Roland and Wendy from Canterbury, Kent booked the lake and apartment for 2 weeks. They could not have wished for better weather for a holiday as the entire fortnight was sunny and very hot.

Our carp spent most of the days basking on the surface of the lake. But this did not deter Roland who pursued them with floater tactics taking fish up to a 26lb 12oz Royale mirror and a splendid 22lb original common. The common was caught on floating crust under the canopy of a tree at extreme close range, the bait just 'dapped' on the surface with no line in the water at all. Eyeball to eyeball stuff! Roland is the first angler to catch carp 'off the top' on the lake.

In the meantime Wendy successfully put together a fine catch of chub, roach, rudd and perch, on the float rod, with maggot over groundbait.

Roland only fished 3 nights during his stay, but still banked catfish of 50lb, a PB, and 34lb and some original carp. The cats falling to the Steamer Bait's Livit MF boilies, which they seem to love.

Roland continued to bank Royale's to low 20's and original carp and on the last day of his fortnight pulled in a peach of a mirror weighing 28lb 8oz a new PB. This fish taken from the near margins to a legered boilie under some trees, proved to be the final catch of the trip.

Roland and Wendy wrote the following in our comments book............................

'We really loved the visual aspect of the lake which has a very natural unspoilt feel to it. The easy access all around the lake and the many points where you can stalk fish from are great.

The tackle and equipment supplied was excellent as was the apartment which had everything required for a comfortable stay.'

The hot and sunny weather has brought out many reptiles and amphibians around the lake. We have spotted lizards of all sizes, salamanders, frogs and toads.
